Solarbotics Pendulum

Not too much to say here. It is a Solarbotics kit that seemed very interesting, so I purchased it. It works fantastic. I added a single little 'cell from them also and it goes all day now, no matter what the light conditions are outside. Even when it is raining.

I find it very interesting that this runs on just two capacitors, two transistors, two resistors and a diode. Surly it much have taken awhile for them to figure that out!

Here are some pictures of it:

Oh, and that wire on the window frame is an antenna, don't mind it :). I couldn't get the silicone tubing that came with it for feet on (the pieces broke on me), so I used zip ties, they work fine. I wish they included a bit larger tubing though. Also, I accidentally burned the monofilament holding the swinging magnet with my soldering iron when I was adding the solar cell, so I had to use some old fishing line, it isn't clear like what came wit the kit, but it gets the job done.
